Applications
[plant source] the roots of Paeonia albiflora pall, a plant of Ranunculaceae, and p.suffrsticosa Andr, a peony.
Roots of P. delarayi Franch
[application]
Anti inflammatory, anti ulcer and anti allergic effects
Paeoniflorin (50mg / kg, Ig) can inhibit the ankle swelling caused by carrageenan and dextronol, prevent and treat adjuvant arthritis, stress ulcer and gastric secretion. Paeony decoction can inhibit some pathogenic bacteria and fungi.
Hypoglycemic effect
Paeoniflorin can significantly reduce the blood glucose of streptozotocin induced diabetic mice, and the content of sugar in plasma gradually decreases with the prolongation of administration time. The effect was strongest at 25 minutes after administration. Paeoniflorin can reduce the level of sugar in plasma, and its effect is related to the amount (1-10mg / kg body weight). The experiment shows that the mechanism of paeoniflorin's hypoglycemic action is not related to insulin.
Immunoregulation
Paeoniflorin has certain immunoregulatory function. The adjuvant arthritis was induced by the appropriate amount of concanavalin. Paeoniflorin acted on the spleen cell suspension and peritoneal macrophage in vitro. It was found that it enhanced the IL-2 of the spleen lymphocyte and the IL-1 of the peritoneal macrophage. The dose-response curve was bell shaped. Moreover, paeoniflorin can induce the proliferation of splenic lymphocytes, and make a large number of low splenic lymphocyte proliferation in AA rats return to the normal level, which indicates that paeoniflorin has a concentration and function dependent bi-directional immunomodulatory effect. Clinical pharmacology research shows that the product can improve the condition of patients with rheumatoid arthritis, reduce the symptoms and signs of patients, and regulate the immune function of patients. Paeoniflorin is similar to methotrexate in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, but its adverse reactions are significantly less and lighter than methotrexate. As a class II western medicine, it has been approved as a new drug for clinical treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, and its other clinical applications are under study.
Cosmetics application
The extract of Paeonia lactiflora has strong antibacterial activity. It can inhibit Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Proteus and so on in vitro. In vitro, it can inhibit Trichophyton violaceus, Trichophyton concentric, Xanthomonas Xulan, aoduoang, rust, and many kinds of tinea. It can also inhibit tinea inguinalis, epidermis, and red surface. Dermatophytes, such as dermatophytes and Nocardia spp., can be used for the prevention and treatment of dermatophytes in different degrees, and can inhibit some pathogenic bacteria and fungi.
The inhibition of paeonia extract on elastase, elimination of free radicals, inhibition of nitrogen oxide production and promotion of cathepsin activity showed that paeonia extract had the function of activating skin and anti-aging, and could be used in anti-aging cosmetics.
As for the moisture retention of paeoniflorin, the moisture content of cuticle can be measured by conductance method, and then the evaporation of water through skin can be calculated. After the application of paeoniflorin extract on the skin, the evaporation of water was significantly reduced, which was 78% lower than that in the blank test, indicating that paeoniflorin has a good moisturizing ability as a cosmetic additive.
[test method] determination of paeoniflorin by HPLC-UV external standard method
